Literary Thanksgiving Feast

This is not your kind of menu that requires you to make a shopping list and spend hours in the kitchen.... it’s a feast of ideas and resources centered around the holiday of Thanksgiving!

Over the years I have enjoyed compiling stories and videos to use in our homeschool that follow the principle of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of a literary education. I have found great value in the older stories written over 100 years ago and find that they are filled with wholesome thoughts and actions as well as wonderful vocabulary to challenge my children in their literary education. In this version I have formatted several of these stories that you can either read from the digital packet, or print off the pages to read along with your students!

This packet has 6 Thanksgiving Stories, 4 Thanksgiving Poems, 2 Thanksgiving Hymns, and 3 Presidential Thanksgiving Proclamations. There are also 3 Thanksgiving documentaries about the history and food of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

There are no lesson plans or scripted outlines to follow in these guides. The simple practice of reading and narrating is the basis for learning in a Charlotte Mason homeschool. During these moments of the holidays I try to make our atmosphere of learning more about experiences than checklists. I am cheering you on as you embrace the simplicity of this method!
